Interactive Entertainment

For the Couples Who Want to Have a “WOW” Wedding

When you think of over-the-top weddings, you may picture large cakes, a big venue, lots of guests, and even luxurious destinations. However, over-the-top weddings have come to fit many definitions, including interactive entertainment. Interactive entertainment has become popular in recent years at weddings, especially during the cocktail hour and reception. We’ve seen some pretty great entertainment at the resort over the years, and below is some inspiration for you to consider as you seek new and exciting ways to entertain your guests on your wedding day.

Over-The-Top Music: DJ’s spinning Top 40 hits with a lighting set-up is a great way to get your guests off their seats and dancing; however, for couples looking for that extra “WOW” factor when it comes to wedding music, consider having live music performances. Big NOLA-style bands, local vocalists, choirs, and rotating musicians are a just a few ways to elevate the music detail of your big day and leave guests even more impressed with your wedding day entertainment.

Live Performances: So you may be asking yourself, what’s the different between live music and live performances? Music is just that, music. But live performances are more interactive. For example, we’ve seen couples host circus-themed weddings with “ring leaders” m-c’ing the evening, ariel performers, fire dancers, and more. In recent years, we’ve also seen couples hire “crooner” groups (think the Rat Pack), who not only sing, but provide guests with a variety show and different types of entertainment. If you want more movement incorporated into your wedding reception, consider hiring professional dancers to move about the dance floor and dance with guests! We’ve even seen professional dancers gather the wedding guests and briefly teach them how to dance – whether it be the foxtrot, or electric slide, guests will be pleasantly surprised and “aww’d” with the interaction and entertainment.

Audience Interaction: Similar to live performances, audience interaction during wedding receptions is gaining more traction. And while photobooths with silly props are really fun, so are large-scale photos of all guests grouped together with the couple. Additionally, we’ve seen entertainment booths set-up with fortune tellers and magicians, which is fun for adults and kids alike. We’ve also seen live performers come play instruments and sing to guests tableside! From guitar and saxophone players to crooner-types (as mentioned above), table-side entertainment is always a surprise and delight for wedding guests.

Looking for another way to “surprise guests?” We may have just the idea for you! Did you know our very own Stonedrift Spa just opening its stand-alone location in the former general store space, just next to the lodge?! The brand new 12,000 square foot space features a new Bridal Room, private treatment rooms, relaxation spaces, workout / yoga rooms, state-of-the-art lock rooms, complete with steam rooms, saunas, and so much more!

This is a great way to “surprise” guests by sharing the spa treatments with them so they can disconnect while on-property. Or, if your budget allows, maybe treat your guest to a treatment? The options are endless! Be sure to check the website regularly for updates, specials, open appointments and more.
